Chronic pain is a broad term that generally refers to how long pain has been present. Pain is considered chronic when it lasts or recurs for more than 3-6 months. Chronic pain is a common condition affecting approximately 20% of people worldwide. It accounts for 15% to 20% of doctors visiting and can range from minor to severe.

The pain can lead to a variety of other symptoms and interfere with multiple aspects of a person’s life. Some people report having trouble eating, sleeping, feeling weak, tired, or even moody. The presence of intermittent or unrelenting pain and the disruption that it causes in one’s life can be overwhelming and debilitating. It is important to locate the root cause of the pain with help from our pain management clinic, in order to effectively provide relief.

Some of the most commons causes of chronic pain are postsurgical or posttraumatic pain, Cancer related pain, neuropathic or nerve pain, headache or facial pain, visceral or organ pain, and musculoskeletal pain such as arthritis, muscular pain and fibromyalgia.

Some of the sensations related to chronic pain are a squeezing sensation, stiffness, sharp burning pain, shooting electrical pain, tingling, deep achy pain, or just a general soreness.

If pain is present for too long it can result in chemical changes in the brain and in the spinal cord where the signal is transmitted and regulated. This can result in specific treatment challenges that require a careful, methodical approach to try to turn this process around.

New Day Pain Management can help and ensure an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan for the chronic pain patient.
